Pilates and Clinical Exercise
Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise that has been around since the 1920’s. It was originally developed as a rehabilitation method by Joseph Pilates. Nowadays, Pilates is commonly recommended by many physio’s and other health professionals all over the world for a variety of conditions. Different studio’s and instructors will have their own take on Pilates.
There are some very big franchises out there that put a pre recorded exercise session on with staff supervising more than instructing.
We pride ourselves on tailoring bespoke classes for our clients.
Our Approach
We know that no two people are the same and thus one exercise class won’t be right for two people. For that reason, we keep our class number to 4 and tailor each class for a specific client and their needs. We call these clinical exercise sessions.
We are strong believers of “medicine through movement”. Sometimes this is over simplified to just getting stronger. However were good physio’s earn their money in this space is working out what works best for you and understanding when to push through a bit of discomfort and when to back off a bit.
While using Pilates equipment and incorporating Pilates principles, we also utilise contemporary exercise and sports science. In essence, our sessions are a hybrid approach tailored to the individual.
Want a super hard session? You’ve got it. Want to work on mobility or recovery? We do that to. Want exercises to help with a specific sport? Absolutely.
We want you to enjoy your class and feel great afterwards we are always happy to adjust a class as needed rather than having a set list of exercises as is common place in some studio’s.
Can I claim my private health?
Probably…. Each health fund has its own rules as to what they will fund. There are a few criteria that need to be met to be eligible.
Firstly it is called “Group Consultation” (Code 560 for private health)
The clinical exercise class must be held within the accepted scope of clinical physio practice, targeting an individual’s treatment and injury needs.
Sessions may use Pilates based exercises provided they are offered by an allied health care provider (physio) as part of an evidence-based rehabilitation program.
A yearly physical assessment is needed to ensure the exercise classes are appropriate for you. If you are already a physio client you are good to go, alternatively we run an introductory session for $75 dollars which includes a physio assessment to understand what your needs and goals are and a 1:1 pilates session to get you familar with the equipment and how we do things.
Don’t have private health?
No worries. You are still fine to join the clinical classes
Unsure if Pilates is right for you?
We have a special introductory trial pack of 3 classes for $60. So you can give it a go and see if it we are the right fit for you.
