Elbow Pain

‘Oh yeah my uncle had tennis elbow’.

Not all elbow presentations are tennis elbow. But a lot are and this can be a challenging area to treat. The research suggests getting onto early leads to better outcomes. A lot of the time this is due to sudden increases in load (repetitive gripping, lifting).

I used to work as an onsite physio at a steel manufacturing company, and one of the main conditions I treated was elbow pain. Often, the fix is relatively straightforward and a combination of identifying what is causing the issue and teaching a client strategies around managing it.

The risk of people self managing elbow pain is if there is another cause of the pain other such as “golfers elbow” or pain coming from the joint or referred in down from the neck or shoulder. Often elbow issues can be turned around and on the right path with just a few sessions.

Common elbow conditions we treat include

  • Tennis elbow / lateral epicondylagia

  • Golfers elbow

  • Elbow bursitis

  • Fracture rehabilitation

  • Ulnar collateral ligament injuries

  • Biceps rupture / repair rehab
